From "I Do" to Breaking Ground: A Homeowner's Renovation Journey (Finally!)

Hey there, fellow renovation & building enthusiasts!

After seven years of marriage, countless life hiccups, and a global pandemic to boot, we're finally moving forward with creating our dream home, Cloud Cline!

If you've ever embarked on a home renovation or building journey, you know it's no walk in the park. Between family emergencies, job changes, contractor hunting, and the ever-delightful permitting process, it has felt like we're constantly taking two steps forward and one step back. Throw in sky-high inflation and the current lending environment, and it's enough to make anyone a little nervous.

But here's the thing: we're determined (and maybe a little bit excited!). We've poured our hearts into the planning process, and all that effort is paying off. All our work to ensure excellent credit is helping us secure a loan that’s at least a step better than paying credit card interest rates, and we signed the contract with our builder. #AdultingWin

Speaking of wins, let's talk about downsizing. Merging two households into one post-wedding turned out to be, well, let's just say we haven't exactly downsized yet. So, guess what? Clean-out time! It's a bittersweet process, especially sorting through sentimental wedding keepsakes that bring back a flood of happy memories. But hey, a little decluttering is a small price to pay for our new home, right?

As we navigate the final permitting hurdle, a light at the end of the tunnel has emerged: the city gave us the green light to adjust our drainage plan in a way that saves us money. Score! Even though it means some fees get shifted around, it's still a win in my book.

Here's the thing: you can plan all you want, but life throws curve balls. That's why we've built in flexibility to our plan, with contingencies for those unexpected moments (because let's be honest, they're inevitable).

So, here's to new beginnings and exciting times at Cloud Cline! We're diving headfirst into this project, and we'll be sure to share our adventures (the good, the bad, and the hilarious) along the way. Stay tuned!
